
The Department of Statistics came into existence with the begining of this August institution in 1958. Dr. R.B.Singh (M.sc.,Ph.D.) was appointed first lecturer in the department and given responsibility for the development of the department.
During this period very few student opted statistics as a subject at the U.G. level. Mr. Tyagi was the only teacher supported by class IV staff. During this period some text book based on statistics of foreign writers purchased and for the practical utility 13 facit calculating machine and 3-electronic desk calculators was also purchased.
During this period the no. of students increased. Since there were two year degree course in the entire institution so teaching staff was not increased. In the period a lab for statistics practical was set up and some pocket calculator was purchased.
This period was good period for the department as there was significant inverse in no of student (in the deptt.) and significant amount was allocated to the department which helps in purchasing no. of books. During the period teaching standard was still maintained.
During this period the teaching standard remmains goods and produces good results.
During this period three year degree course was introduced by the university but still there was only one sanctioned teaching part. During period the department, through college management applied to directorate, higher education for eveating a new post of believe in the department. During the above said period no. of books and calculating madini, calculator wore purchased.
During this period, a new post (temp.) of lecturer was sanctioned by the Directorate Higher Education, but in june 1993, Mr. R.N.S. Tyagi retired from the service and Dr. V.K. Agarwal of mathematics deptt was given the charge of the department. The department was runned with the help of two tutors. During the period books and 15 scientific calcular were purchased.
During this period, the department was runned by Dr. V.K. Agarwal, Prof, incharge with the help of two tutor. In may 1999, Dr. R.B. Singh, selected by UPHESC, Allahabad and Dr. K.P. Singh transfered from AnoopShahar join the departmen.
During the period Dr. R.B. Singh, was given the charge of the department. There are two permanent teacher in the department and both Ph. D (in Stat.). During the period, the following progress in nodel :
Maintain the high standard of teaching and results remain excellent.
Earlier only Maths, Eco., Stat. combination was available, during the period a new combination Physics, Maths, Stat. is introduced that causes huge
no. of good students are opting stat.
For a good way of teaching and make better under standing to student a overhead projector is purchased.
New Scientific calculator are purchased for practical utility.
There was no P.G. Course in Stat. in the department, so for starting M.Sc. (Stat.) class, We have aplied to education deptt, Govt of O.P. through,
C.C.S. University.
There was no research centre in the department, so for the recognition the department as a research centre, an application was moved to the Vice
Chancellor, C.C.S. University. The V.C. pleased with our move and appoint a panel for this approval of research centre. The panel member visitor
the department in Feb 2005, and recommended the deptt. may he approve as a research, centre.
To make the student better understanding and modern technique to teach them a computer is purchased in the department and our and our future
plan is to set a computer lab.
Number. of books on subject are being purchased.
Besides, the teaching activities in the deptt. the teaching staff always encurage the student to participate in sports, N.C.C., M.Sc. and also help them to choose good institution for higher and technical education.
